Snowflake Table Runner (The Rest of the Story)

1/9/2016

Last weeks my Electric Quilt tutorial video showed drafting the main block for my newly design snowflake table runner.  I also provide both rotary cutting and foundation piecing instructions for the block.  Click here if you missed it.

The week my Electric Quilt video tutorial will cover the setting blocks and finishing the quilt.  Feel free to save the images below to your computer.  This will allow you to trace the blocks using Electric Quilt.

  • Corner Triangle Rotary Cutting Instructions

  • Corner Triangle Foundation Pattern

If using Deb Tucker's Wing Clipper 1 for the flying geese units, cut the large square 3-1/2" x 3-1/2".  Cut the corner triangle pieces 2" x 2".  Trim the completed unit to 2-1/2" x 1-1/2".

The borders are cut as follows:
  • Inner border 1-1/2" x 11-3/4" (top/bottom); 1-1/2" x 36-1/2" (sides)
  • Outer border 2-1/2" x 13-3/4"(top/bottom); (2-1/2" x 40-12")

Introduction to Electric Quilt Online Class Starting January 26th

One item I keep hearing from readers is the challenge in finding hands on Electric Quilt classes.  Search no more!  I am now offering an online version of my Introduction to EQ class.

This online class will cover basic navigation of the software, creating a new project, using the libraries, using Quick Quilts for fast projects, adding borders, coloring tools/fabrics, creating quilt labels and printing quilts, blocks, fabric yardage estimates, rotary cutting and foundation patterns.  By the end of the two sessions you will be comfortable working with the program and be able to explore additional features on your own.    Users of all levels are welcome, with special emphasis on beginners.

Dates:  January 26 and February 2nd.  6:30 - 9:00 pm (Central time)

Class size will be limited to 10 participants.  We will use screen sharing technology -- so you will be able to see my screen and if you have specific questions, I will also be able to view yours as well.

Click here to register.  (Suggestion:  There will be a coupon that can be applied toward this class in my weekly newsletter.  Sign up now to obtain the code or send me a note.)

I have a new class starting at Electric Quilt University on February 5th.  This is a 2-week course complete with illustrated, printable lessons and videos covering every step. The videos are posted throughout the lessons so you can read first, then watch the video, or vice versa. You can stream them right away, or download each video to your computer to watch later.
Octagon Table Toppers is one course in the Small Quilts with a Twist series. I will help you create master templates for unique quilt styles to use over and over again. While this class is only 2 weeks long, the lessons are jam-packed with amazing content.

Happy quilting.

Can I save these videos each week and refer to them at a later time. I find them very helpful, but I am still learning EQ and need to refer back often.

Thanks for being so informative and helpful.

The videos are not downloadable. However, they all remain on my website (as part of the original blog post. So you can refer back to them over and over again. Another option is to watch them on my You Tube channel. I am usually a few weeks behind in posting them there. But they are all in one spot (with a link back to the related blog post.)

This video won't play. I can get the last one to play, but when I push this arrow, nothing happens.

Afton. Not sure what to tell you. When I went back and tested it just now on my devices it played just fine. One suggestion. Try clicking on the blog title first and then on the video. I have found that that sometimes helps when I am on my tablet. The other suggestion is to try it on a different device or maybe at a different time.
