Embroidery Digital Quilting Designs MN Quilt Show UpdateThe show is less than two weeks away and I continue to tweak the material for my Electric Quilt classes. Let me share a few new projects from my Electric Quilt Intro to Settings and Borders class. To register for any of my Electric Quilt classes at the show -- click here. Silhouette ExchangeHere are all the wonderful designs contributed as part of the Silhouette exchange. Thanks to all who contributed. There were not many submissions . I am not sure if it was too difficult or of it was just a bad time of year. If you would like to improve your applique drafting skills, there is still room in my Electric Quilt Applique drafting class at the MN Quilt show. The handout for this class is 28 pages -- so we will be covering a lot of material! Happy quilting -- and wishing you a safe Memorial Day weekend.
Kari As many of you know, I draft my quilts in Electric Quilt. But for the quilting designs I use Art and Stitch as Art and Stitch allows me to save my stitches in a format that can be read by my longarm machine. I typically bring a photo of my quilt from Electric Quilt in as a background image when designing in Art and Stitch. However this last week, I discovered a really cool thing. I can actually bring my designs from Art and Stitch back to Electric Quilt. Marian Penna from Seams to Be Sew had shared an idea in a Facebook group about bringing embroidery designs into an Electric Quilt project. After hearing her idea, I realized the same concept would also work for quilting designs. I believe this technique would work with any digitizing software (not just Art and Stitch). See how I did it in this weeks video tutorial. Here is a snapshot from Electric Quilt with the quilting designs added to my Ferris Wheel quilt. Featured Product - Ferris Wheel Quilt and Quilting DesignsI've been working with Anthology fabrics to update my Ferris Wheel quilt with their newest spring collection. This quilt is currently on display at Quilt Market in Salt Lake City. I love the soft batiks in their new Color Stories collection. With the new fabrics, I decided a new line of custom quilting designs was in order. These quilting designs were created specifically for the Ferris Wheel quilt. I have digitized these designs and am now offering them for sale in my store. Purchase Options:

Ferris Wheel combined Piecing Pattern and Quilting Bundle. This week I have been working on the projects for my Electric Quilt Pictoral Foundation class at the Minnesota Quilt Show in St. Cloud. It is less than just a month away. I thought I would share a few pictures of the quilts the class will be drafting using Electric Quilt. Would you like to join me? The following two quilts were designed using the 2016 Quilt MN Shop Hop fabric. The fabric won't be for sale until July 29th. But with Electric Quilt, I can plan how I will use it now. So which loon do you prefer -- the one with the water or the one with the "full view" of the loon? I'm hoping you can help me decide. Featured Product - Modern Maze Pattern Plus Quilting DesignsI finally got it done -- the quilting designs for a modern quilt are available for all embroidery and longarm quilting system. These were originally designed for my Modern Maze piecing pattern -- but many of the designs would work well in any modern quilt. To celebrate the quilting patterns are all on sale for 50% off plus.
Note: Posting this a day early in honor of Mother's Day. I am heading up to North Dakota for the weekend to spend some time with my Mom. This week I had an opportunity to work on a Minnesota themed quilt. To complement the Minnesota themed fabric, my customer wanted a north woods look to the quilt. So I had the opportunity to design a new pantograph. Pinecones and pine branches. This definitely says Minnesota north woods. See how to draft the pinecone using Art and Stitch. Art and Stitch is digitizing software for quilters and embroiderers. You could also use the technique from this video to freehand the design. Would you like to try the software before purchasing it. You can download a trial version on Art and Stitch's website. You will not be able to save with the trial version -- but it is a chance to try out my tutorials and see if the software is for you. You can also purchase Art and Stitch in my store. Check out Beth Murphy's finished quilt with the Pinecost and Pine Branches pantograph. Silhouette EQ Block Exchange - Submissions Due May 13th
