The Easter Bunny is Late this Year

Happy Easter!

Designed Using Electric Quilt 7Special Delivery by the Easter Bunny by Kari Schell
I've been super busy this week finalizing everything for Electric Quilt Academy.  It is hard to believe it is less than one week away.

Unfortunately I didn't get my Easter bunny video tutorial done. But I have a plan to still share it with you.  Read more below.

Free EQ Applique Bunny Mini-Class

Picture
I know a number of you are wondering if an Electric Quilt applique class is for you.

Here is my offer.  An opportunity to attend a free mini-class on drawing my latest Easter bunny in Electric Quilt.

You will have a chance to check out how an online instructor led class works -- and at the same time you will learn how to draft this adorable bunny ready to share one of his prized eggs.

Class will be at 7:00 pm Central Daylight time on Monday, April 17, 2017. Please join by computer to watch the demonstration and to participate in Q&A.

You must pre-register.  Please only sign up if you can attend the class.  I am limited to 50 participants on my Zoom conferences -- and so I must limit sign-ups as well.

Register here.

Thanks Kari for the opportunity. I ordered a headset that should get here Monday morning but I don't have a camera so I'll just have audio and/or the chat but I think it will be enough for now. All this time, I have been going back and forth to do all the tutorials and can't think why I didn't know this before about shrinking the screens side by side to watch the videos each Saturday and have EQStitch on the screen at the same time. Duh! I guess I didn't know you could do that while watching a video. So thank you for the lesson today. I learned something new. If something comes up and it arrives later, I could still use the chat part anyway right?

Looking forward to you joining me on Monday. Don't worry about the camera. I decided not to do "video" for the participants. There are two many on the call. And I didn't want to invade anyone's privacy with recording the session.

Regarding audio. You have an option of using your phone instead of your computer - so no headset is required. Just don't pick both or you will get a lot of reverberation. You could even choose no audio at all -- and ask questions via chat. There are a lot of people signing up, so I may end up only doing chat for the Q&A. Or do a mix.

See you Monday!

I wondered how you could do it with a lot of people all talking at once on the audio part but you are more experienced at this than I am. People seeing into our space, made me turn around to see what's behind me! Luckily my workroom is tidy. I wouldn't have to change much but I don't have a camera for the computer anyway so, no worry there.
Yours looks nice and tidy and you have wall hangings up but I wasn't sure what they were of. It just looked good. It was good to see you for real too.
You made mention of posting just your avatar or little sign on photo. Where would we add that? I'm taking online art classes and they have a place where we add our photo or what we want there to show. I didn't see how we do that on what you showed in the video.
Sorry for all the questions but I've not done this before. Do we select the privacy option that you opted for when getting set up
then? I'm a little confused whether to select phone or computer. I will have to watch the video again I guess. Maybe my husband will know what I should do if we are just using chat.
Is it like Skype?

Since I am not turning on video for participants in this call -- no one needs to worry about their workspace. :) With possibly 50 people on the call that would be a little overwhelming for me.

In my paid classes (with 8 or less participants), I encourage people to turn their video on as it helps me assess how things are going. But I have found that it takes a couple of sessions before some are comfortable with this. I completely get that as I am not totally comfortable with sharing my face. I much rather share an EQ screen. :)

I haven't done Skype -- but I think it is like that. (I am assuming Skype allows for screen sharing.)

Regarding of selecting audio versus computer, when you log into your Zoom session -- that is the first pop up screen (allowing you to pick). If you pick audio, it will give you a phone number. It will even allow you to test your computer audio before selecting.

I think that you need to subscribe to Zoom before you can add an Avatar. I just logged in as a participant on my laptop and I didn't see a place for it. It just said Kari's Laptop (the name I gave myself). You can get a free version of Zoom on their website which would give you that ability.

I learned alot from the class tonight. I had a little difficulty with my old computer- I could hear you at times but my chat button stopped working so I just listened and watched you. I went ahead and tried the different tools and finally I traced my bunny. Wish we could had recorded the class with all your helpful hints. Thanks again.for having this free mini class, it helped me

Hi Carol. Glad you could join me. As a participant in the class tonight, I will send you the complete video of tonight. (Other than my intro - which I forgot to record.) It is processing right now and should be there in a couple of hours.
