My friend Erin Kennedy made this really cute baby quilt. She designed it around a theme fabric and then did a series of chevrons rows in the quilt. I have a number of baby quilts of my own I need to do and I started to think about how I could create a series of quilts that were different -- but not complex.
Using Erin's quilt as inspiration, I decided to start with a theme fabric, This was a great place to use one of those fabulous kids prints. I then picked 6 fat quarter bundles that complemented the colors in the theme fabric. I selected a dark and light (sort of) print in each of three colors from the theme fabric. I then picked an accent color for the sashing and the binding. This could be the same or different fabrics. Happy quilting. Kari

Thanks for inviting us! We have our first Grandbaby & he's been joined by 3 brand new friends, including one born yesterday! It'll be fun to sew for them as I think about all the mischief they'll make in the coming years!

I would like to sew with you. I am thinking that I could make these and then donate them. With 2 purposes, use up my fabric and make something that could be used.

What perfect timing! I've a grand nephew trying to be born early and we're hoping he makes it till Dec. I've not heard recently but I'd enjoy sewing along. We get our own materials and then follow right?

Yes -- use fabrics you have on hand or take a trip to the quilt shop. The key is a fun focus (theme) fabric.

Lilia... I have never heard your name before 1½ months ago. My great niece was born in Indiana on October 3rd and they named her Lilia! Such a pretty name and sure to be a lovely little girl! Now I know 2 of you!

This is very timely! I've been playing around with pinwheels in baby quilts but have not done a row by row. I'm looking forward to this.

You can make any quilt you want. You can even vary the design. I would love to see what you end up doing.
