Check out what Tech Know Quilter Members Are Creating

Tech Know Quilters is a membership of Electric Quilt 8 owners who are mastering Electric Quilt through online training.  At the end of their May class, they were encouraged to apply what they learned during the month of May.
Picture
Julie Pedersen I took the Star Quilt class this month. I learned a lot. What amazed me most was the fact that a skewed block could turn out perfect when placed in a quilt. Here is my adaptation of the Lesson 5 quilt.

Holly Wilson This month I took the advance feathered star class. I learned alot. My mind wondering if create a design with the concept of feathered stars without using a star layout. This is block.
Picture
Holly Wilson This is the quilt I designed from the concepts I learned in the class. Thank you Kari for a very informative month of lessons.
Picture
Linda Carlson The photo is Lesson 13 merging Carpenters' Wheel String Star with a Feathered Star from Lesson 12. I used the 3rd variation of a LeMoyne Star in the tile border as there wasn't a simpler version in my Set Block choices. It was a terrific class.
Picture
Nancy Messuri was in Master's Star Quilts in May. I edited a couple of blocks from class and had a blast playing with the EQ8 June fabric download. Really beautiful solids!
Picture
Kristy Goodin Soard I was in Masters Star Quilts in May, and after seeing a block somewhere on the web I created this quilt.
Picture
Kristy Goodin Soard The block I saw on the web.
Picture
Maureen Feron Pinwill I was working on Applique this month and really enjoyed applying the technique, together with thread work. I was given a present last month it was a cushion with wild looking cats on it. This gave me an idea to draw my cat Cassie in threads in a line drawing. Had fun with this.
Picture
Maureen Feron Pinwill one of the blocks I particularly enjoyed using the drawing tool for the arcs in places like the ears and found it easy to adapt the curvature of the ears using the nodes and the node handles.
Picture
Maureen Feron Pinwill I designed one for my friend of her cat. She was thrilled.

Camille Lechliter Inspired by Maureen Feron Pinwill's cat drawings.

Lisa Ward This month I took the Advanced Borders Class and was pleasantly surprised to learn immediately in Lesson 1 how complex a border can become just by using EQ8 standard borders and a 9-patch block. This quilt has 4 borders each using one of the "points in/out" choices. The software has very creative standard border options that I will definitely keep in mind on future designs.

Lisa Ward Continuing in the black/red/grey/white theme here is the Bethlehem Star quilt from Lesson 12 in Advanced Borders.
Picture
Dotty Smalley In the Star Quilts class we learned a lot about snaps, merging blocks, and easy applique. Here is my final Carpenter's Star with a Feathered Star in the center.
Picture
Helen Hicks I just learned how to built the binding into the quilt block amazing and I went back into star quilts, lesson 2, and applied what Kari Schell demonstrated in The Masters Help Session and omg what a game changer indeed.
Picture
Linda Carlson Thanks for unraveling the mystery of adding binding to the Lesson 2 Mariners Lone Star, Kari. I used it in the center of the quilt as well as an appliqué' ring.
Picture
Camille Lechliter Double Wedding Ring quilt - with modern coloring from something I saw on Pinterest - from TKQ Reproduction Quilts class.

Camille Lechliter Another wedding ring type quilt from an idea on Pinterest.
Picture
Carol Mallozzi I was able to complete this little project using the unit in panels and medallions and borders. I needed to add a spacer border and I was able to import an image of the panel and figure out the spacer I needed to make my pieced border fit.
Picture
Carol Mallozzi The completed panel.
Picture
Carole Fox I have designed a medallion quilt as an 18 months project for my Guild. The lock down has accelerated the process a bit.I am trying to stay ahead of the Ladies just in case there is a glitch in my pattern.

Nancy Haddad Lacey I was working on some of my lessons and then started playing around. I don't know if I'll ever make this, but I really like it. Our guild does have a curve challenge this year so maybe.

Masters Miniature Star Challenge

Masters members were challenged to design a miniature star quilt that was inspired by a historical star quilt.  TKQ members are eligible to join masters after 12 months in the program.  Masters members receive fewer lessons each month, with more time to devote to their own projects and challenges.
Picture
Joyce Drenth I looked for older blocks within the Blockbase program and selected #3918 to play with. 1937 I decided WWHI (What Would Happen If) an educator terminology. So onward I went into modern transition. I rather like it!
Picture
Julie Pedersen Here is my 4 block 21" quilt. The green/purple/teal block is Granny's Star and the other is a vintage star.
Picture
Nancy Messuri I designed a mini quilt using Mary Nicol's Devil's Claw quilt from the early 1900s for inspiration. First, here is my reproduction of her quilt.
Picture
Nancy Messuri And here is my mini quilt inspired by the Devil's Claw block.
Picture
Nancy Messuri In this mini quilt I merged the center portion from a Feathered Star quilt labeled 1910 (no maker listed) with the Devil's Claw block I used in my previous mini quilt.

Helen Hicks I researched Micmac tribe as my husband is a descendent or has Indian in his bloodline so I thought hmm □ why not so here is the one I found searching Pinterest.

Picture
Kristy Goodin Soard For my masters mini quilt challenge I chose a quilt from 1930 shown at the Iowa Quilt Museum in October 2016 as my inspiration, which I found at the American School Girl Quilt blog. I duplicated the quilt first in a 23" square. Not sure if that was miniature enough, I made a circular table topper at 9.5 inches.

Kristy Goodin Soard Here was my 23" quilt.

Joy Hegglund This was my inspiration quilt, an 1860 Feathered Star by Ora Brown, from the Quilt Index
Picture
Joy Hegglund This is my variation.
Picture
Debbi Treusch I'm going with this quilt as inspiration. The "sashing" around the star is my inspiration to make the quilt more modern. The quilt is from a collection of native americaion quilts.
Picture
Debbi Treusch The quilt is named Arrows Shooting into the Stars by Almira Buffalo Bone Jackson and I found it online in a collection of quilts from the Smithsonian. I used the concept of shooting arrows and the white band around the star to design the quilt and it was designed in Polydraw using the 8 point star.

Holly Wilson This is the block I designed from the inspiration of a C 1850's Feathered Star, found on Antique Textiles

Holly Wilson This is the quilt I designed with the block and a block from this months advance feathered stars
