For me, summer and sun usually means sunburn -- but today's summer and sun combination is much more fun. Summer Sunburst was designed in response to the latest challenge at Do you EQ? The challenge is to design a quilt around Jelly Rolls (those 2-1/2" strip sets that we all love to purchase). I decided I wanted a circular quilt, so I designed my block in PatchDraw and set it using Custom Set. The pieces in the wedges are all cut 2-1/2" wide (2 inch finished). The quilt will finish 48-1/2" x 48-1/2" (with binding). I used a variety of fabrics from Anthology Fabric's spring collection (since I already had them loaded in Electric Quilt for my redo of my Ferris Wheel quilt and loved their bright batiks). This quilt could be strip pieced and the wedges cut using a 10 degree wedge ruler. I purchased mine years ago from Phillips Fiber Art. If you would like to see how the ruler works check out their website. Part 1 of my Electric Quilt video tutorial will cover drafting and coloring the block in Patch Draw. Part 2 (next week) will cover using Custom Set. MN Quilt Show UpdateThe show is less than one week away and I am super excited to be teaching my favorite Electric Quilt classes. Class handouts have been finalized, run off and stapled, more Studio 180 Design rulers ordered for my Specialty Ruler lecture and quilts are being packed into suitcases. This week I thought I would highlight a few new projects that are included in my Pieced Patch Draw class. This class is sold out -- but there are still a few seats in a couple of my other Electric Quilt classes (Applique, Beginning Settings and Borders, and Pictoral Foundations). Pre-registration has closed -- but you can still purchase seats for these classes at the show. Featured Project - Ferris WheelThis quilt is pre-cut friendly. Use both charms and either fat quarters or fat eighths. Optional instructions are also provided for using both the Corner Pop and Tucker Trimmer 1 tools from Studio 180 design. Purchase Options: Ferris Wheel Quilt Pattern (physical copy mailed to you)$10 Ferris Wheel Quilt Pattern (digital copy for immediate download) $10 Ferris Wheel Quilting Design Bundle Click on link to see all the patterns included in the bundle. Do you offer DVDs of your seminars which I am not able to attend?

I don't offer DVDs -- but am planning to offer online instructor led classes that present exactly the same material. As soon as I get back from St. Cloud i will start scheduling.

Kari that was super! You didn't specify what that 2nd block was for. Is it for the backing of your circular quilt or is it a secondary block for a different quilt???? I'm thinking it is for the backing.

Lilia -- just wait until next week -- I will show you what to do with the second block. :)

Is the Anthology Fabric's collection an add on from EQ or where do I find it? Just starting to learn EQ7 and your videos are fantastic!
