Stars and Stripes Quilt

6/28/2014

If you haven't guessed by now, I really love patriotic quilts -- or at least quilts in patriotic fabrics.  This quilt is one I made for Mom and she has it on her door at her assisted living center.

The half block corner layout can be a little tricky to draft in Electric Quilt.  Let me share my secrets with you in this week's video.
For those that would prefer to just have the foundation patterns for the blocks, they are included here.  Just click on the following links.    Please double check the sizes of the foundations and adjust as necessary.  I find that different printers may make minor (but potentially problematic) changes to the sizes.  You will want to make sure "fit to page" is not checked on your printer settings.  The star block is 4 inches finished (4-1/2" unfinished). One edge of all the stripes should also be 4 inches.

If you decide to make this quilt, I would love to see photos.

Row by Row Experience Shop Hop

Four Seasons Quilt Shop asked me to write up instructions for their row quilt for the Row by Row Experience Shop hop.  Their quilt is a Maple Leaf quilt.  You can pick up a copy of the pattern in their shop during July and August.

I was reading about the Row by Row Experience.  There are 1250 shops from all over the country that are participating.  The idea is that while you travel during July and August, you can stop at one of these shops and pick up the original pattern for that shop. There are prizes if you are one of the first to actually complete a quilt using eight different rows.

Are you planning to participate?  I have a couple of mini-trips planned during the next couple of months.  I am looking forward to visiting some of these shops.

Happy quilting.

This one was tricky. I delighted in the review on patch draw tool. Getting all 4 sides closed for each piece, even though they share a side. I'd totally forgotten that tidbit! Also the downloading fabrics and importing it to the sketchbook in use. I don't know if I've forgotten some of this or never received it before but I'm am continually learning from your posts! You totally Rock!

It would be nice if you would speak up on your video. Even with my sound turned all the way up on both my computer and on the video, I could not hear you. The table runner is beautiful, even without the sound.

I am sorry you had problems. From the testing I have done the issue appears to be with certain computers/tablets. I've tried changing a number of things on my end. New microphones, a head set, volume increases within the software. If anyone else out there has any additional suggestions I am open to trying them.
