Sampler Quilt Settings using EQ8

9/28/2019

For a limited time watch Kari's webinar on creating a number of sampler quilt settings using EQ8.  And then check out the virtual quilts from both the Goose Goose Duck challenge and the latest Tech Know Quilter Showcase.

Goose Goose Duck Challenge Concludes

Picture
Wow.  We had an amazing finish to the Goose Goose Duck challenge -- which led into the open enrollment of Tech Know Quilters.

For those that have been participating in the challenge, just a reminder that the videos will be viewable for the next week.  At that point they will be taken down, and be available only in the Tech Know Quilter group.

I am also making the EQ8 Sampler Quilt Webinar available for the next week.

Videos are now only available to those in Tech Know Quilters.   You are welcome to sign up for the wait list for the next open enrollment period.

Tech Know Quilters August Virtual Quilt Show

Current Tech Know Quilter members were challenged to apply what they learned at the end of their August class.  As you can see, they learned a lot!
Picture
Linda Carlson made this quilt during Lesson 9 adding an auto border that brought out similar geometrical shapes from the center to the border.
Picture
Julie Pedersen I always learn something new with Kari's lessons. This month had some of those "Keep Persevering" moments. I had a lesson or two that I had to redo over and over until it clicked. Here is my Challenge quilt for the Advanced Easy Draw class. I incorporated blocks from a few lessons. It never fails to amaze me how different colorings of a block can change how a quilt looks.
Picture
Wanda Smith Hizer This is a block that we learned in Advanced Easy Draw. I liked the block and thought there might be an interesting effect setting it in a quilt block to block. I liked it.
Picture
Holly Wilson I agree with Julie Pedersen perseverance was the word or the month. Clone is a handy thing to remember as well as the part on deleting small sections and redrawing without all the nodes. I used blocks from the Advance draw Month for this quilt using a layout in the library.
Picture
Mary Landon After taking a visual inventory of all my UFOs and my (small) stash, I have vowed to get my projects finished and out the door. I picked up this 12-ish year old fabric and asked myself what can I do with this? So I went to EQ8 and designed this very simple quilt in a matter of minutes. A year ago I didn't have a clue how to do this with the program. I will be donating this along with many others. I have found it is so much faster to go to EQ8 to design my own design rather than go through my magazines, etc., trying to find just the right pattern for the fabric.
Picture
Kristy Goodin Soard I was in the Masters Advanced Easy Draw class. I chose to implement Kari’s technique of fragmenting blocks. I used Edyta Sitar’s Sequoia fabrics from Andover, which required me to use what I learned over a year ago in Kari’s Working with Fabrics classes. I found the original block on Pinterest with no information. I fragmented it and created the quilt and borders as well. This quilt was perfect for the use of symmetry, and I had trouble deciding which one to submit. I had to make myself stop and submit this quilt, or I could have gone on forever with fabric changes in each quilt created!

Curryanne Hostetler Started with blocks from Advanced EasyDraw and used Serendipity.
Picture
Debbi Treusch The block in this quilt is from advanced easy draw feathered star. The block was challenging to draw and took multiple attempts, but definitely worth the effort. With all the white space, I can envision this quilt for shows with some over the top quilting and fancy binding. This version has prairie points for the binding.
Picture
Carole Fox I am not a great fan of Bargello but I managed to get out of my box and produce "Bargello Wheels".
Picture
Suzanne Golden From Poly Draw Compass block. Challenge for me was determining the placement for the lines with the rings and side and top numbers Still a work in progress. Wanted to see how it would look with different colors of setting triangles and borders.

Picture
Kathy Delaney My brain hurts with this one! I worked on the Advanced Easy Draw this month (well, most of it - will have to catch up next month). The most important thing I have learned this time around is to zoom-zoom-zoom! It is amazing how off a couple of nodes can be and one can't see it until zooming in! Thanks, Kari, for some real brain stretching! And there is no way I will be piecing this quilt!
Picture
Linda Sutley - from Working with Fabric Images.
Picture
Rita Dolezal I downloaded Boundless Rapsody from internet, and just made a simple design with the fabrics. I am new to Eq 8 and I am enjoying the lesson very much.
Picture
Sarah Bennett (for her Masters Half Square Triangle Challenge) I started with a square 3 by 3. Drew one line corner to corner. Put it into create serendipity for three of my blocks.
